CLOSING BETHEL SCHOOL IN'rERSECTION - WE.WOULD CLOSE BETHEL SCHOOL
AT DENTON TAP AND NEAR THE BROOKS I~NTERSEC~ION. TRAFFIC WOULD BE
ROUTED OUT TO DENTON TAP VIA BETH~ ROAD.
THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE TWICE TO ACCOMODATE CONSTRUCTION FOR 'rHE FOLLOWING
REASONS: ·
1)
THE FIRST CLOSURE WOULD BE FOR ONE DAY MINIMUM~ 'TWO DAYS MAXIMUM. THIS
CLOSURE WOULD BE FOR THE PURPOSE OF STABILIZING THE SUBGRADE. AN ASHPALT
SURFACE FOR TRAFFIC WOULD BE PLACED FOR TRAFFIC TO RUN ON, THEN BETHEL
SCHOOL COUL,D BE OPENED BACK-UP.
2)
:'HE SECOND CLOSURE WOULD BE' FOR FOUR DAYS MINIMUM., SEVEN DAYS MAXIMUM.
THIS CLOSURE WOLILD BE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAVING THE MAINLANES, AND THE
POUF. b-.BACK DN BE]'HEL SCHOOL ROAD. THIS WOULD ELIMINATE HAVIN(~ ]'0 REDUCE
THE TRAFFIC TO ONE DIRECTION, MULTIPLE DE'rOURS, AND POSSIBLY THREE WEEKS
OF WORKING TIME IN ]"HE iNTERSECTION.
SUBJECT: [:LOSING BETHEL ROAD INTERSECTION - WE WOULD CLOSE BETHEL ROAD JUST
EAST OF THE CITY PARK, ACCESS WILL NOT BE AFFECTED TO THIS AREA.
WE WOULD ALSO CLOSE BE]HEL ROAD AT DENTON TAP ROAD. TRAFFIC WOULD
BE DETOURED VIA BETHEL SCHOOL.
I
'THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE 'DONE TWICE TO ACCOMODATE CONSTRUCTION FOR THE SAME
REASONS GIVEN IN THE SUBJECT OF CLOSING BETHEL SCHOOL.
SUBJECT:
CLOSING BRAEWOOD ROAD INTERSECTION - WE WOULD CLOSE BRAEWOOD
TO THRU TRAFFIC @ GLENWOOD, AND TO TRAFFIC AT DENTON ]'AP ROAD.
TRAFFIC WOULD BE ROUTED TO DENTON TAP VIA VANBEBBER OR SANDY LAKE.
]"HIS WOULD HAVE ]"0 BE DONE ONCE TO ACCOMODATE CONSTRUCTION.
i) THE CLOSURE WOULD BE FOR THE PURPOSE OF STABILIZING THE SUBGRADE. THE
MINIMUM LENGTH OF CLOSURE WOULD BE ONE DAY, TWO DAY MAXIMUM.
SUBJECT: REROUTING TRAFFIC INTO '[HE CITY PARK NORTH OF COTTONWOOD CREEK.
WE PROPOSE BUILDING A TEMPORARY ROAD iNTO THE PARK JUST NORTH OF WHERE THE
NEW CONCRETE PAVING WILL STOP (APPROXIMATELY 50~ NORTH OF THE EXISTING
C~,TY PARK ENTRANCE. SEE ATTACHED DRAWING FOR DETAILS. THIS WOULD BE DONE
TO ACCOMODATE COMPLETING THE ACCESS TO THE PARK IN TWO PHASES. THIS
DISTURBED AREA WILL OF COURSE BE RESTORED TO IT'S ORIGINAL CONDITION.
SUBJECT:
THE HANDLING OF TRAFFIC WHILE WE ARE PAVING. IT WILL BE NECESSARY
TO ROUTE TRAFFIC BY FLAGMEN CONTROL AROUND OUR CONCRETE TRUCKS,
AND BELT PLACER. THIS WILL NO]- BE NECCESSARY ALL THE TIME~ BUT
MOST OF THE 'rIME. .BY THE CONTRACT WE ARE RESTRICTED TO WORKING
BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:50 AM AND '4:50 PM WHEN WE ARE ON THE STREET.
THE AREAS WE WILL BE WORKING PAVING FROM THE EXISTING STREE'r ARE
OUTLINED ON 'tHE ATTACHED PAVING PLAN.
PROPOSED PAVING PLAN FOR DENTON TAP.ROAD
Phase one will consist of paving thirty four feet'wide for
both pro~ects. The majority of the paving will 6e on the
west side of the existing roadway.
Phase two of the paving will be the completion the paving.
Phase two will be discussed ir~ detail as the time for it
approaches.
Pha.se one will begin at the south end of the project tying
into the existing concrete pavement and proceeding no~th to
approximately ~tation ~7+55. We will then c~oss ove~ the
~ailroad and begin again at approximately station ~8+50.
Paving will ~::ontinue no~"th to the south curb ~eturn
Bethel Road. We will leave a block out from curb return to
curb return to facilitate traffic and our material and batch
trucks. Paving this block out will be the l~ast pavement
pla~ed this phase. In paving to the south curb return
Bethel Road it will be necessary for our placing machine to
be positioned in the south bound lane of the existing road.
Flagmen will be use~ to allow one lan~ o{ traffic to pass
the placing machine at a time. We plan to install advanced
warning ~igns that ~ suggest to th~ public that they use an
alternate route d~lring the paving operation. It is hoped
that these signs wi~ll reduce the volum~ o~ traffic the
flagmen will need to handle. From the north curb return of
Bethel Road to the bridge it will be possible ~or the Placer
to be behind the west CLiMb and therefor not in traffic.
At this point we propose to walk the slipform acros~ the new
bridge to continue paving north. Once the slipf°rm
across the bridge it will again be necessary to have the
placer in the south bound lane of the existing road. We
will continue north on the w~st side to a point at least I00
feet ~,orth of where we plan to ~ross ove~ to the east side
o~ the exi.sting roadway. This will requ~Fe being allowed to
close Bethe~l S~hool Road and pave e~ontinuously thru this
intersection providing a much improved product than by
paving this intersection piece by piece. While Bethel
School Road is closed tra{.~ic may be detoured to Bethel Road
where we propose to have ~lagmen stationed du~ing daylight
hours. These ~lagmen will also accommodat~ ou~ material
truck and concrete trucks thus preventing a traffic tie up
at this intersection. In order to shorten the amount
time that, Bethel School is closed we request permission to
~reate lime treated material on site. Then just prior to
the paving operation read~ing this intersection we will
exc~avatm the ~xisting roadway and the approach and under cut
the p~oposed sub-grade to place the lime treated material to
the proper depth. Incidentally we also request~ p~rmission
to use this lime treated material arou~'~d the water valves
and manholes that~ are raised dust ahead o~ th~ paving. Then
starting on the east. side o~ th~ roadway as ~ar south
practical ~ontinue paving no~'th until we reach the existing
pavement at Sandy Lake Road. It is..understood that we Will
leave the appropriate block outs for the commercial
establishments on the east side of the road. 'Once across
Sandy Lake Road we will again pave on the west side of the
existing road until we reach the north end of the project.
We ~ill again require the same procedures as'employed South
of Sandy Lake, for example.
the appropriate block outs, flagmen, and the use of ~the lime
treated material for the block outs.
I trust~ this plan to have addressed the major concerns
raised about phase one paving. Should you require
additional detail or wish to discuss the finer points o~~
this plan please feel free to call.
