ST8201-CS 880927 (2)GINN, INC. September 27, 1988 CONSIILTING ENGINEERS Mr. David M. Snyder' P.E. L.H. Lacy Company 10888 Shady Trail P.O. Box 541297 Dallas, Texas 75354-1297 Re: Denton Tap Road Improvements from Belt Line Road to Sandy Lake Road from Sandy Lake Road to Denton Creek, Coppell, Texas. Dear Mr. Snyder: The purpose of this letter is to update the status of Field Extras for the project. For this purpose we are attaching a Project Field Change Summary which lists each Field Change, its cost, pertinent drawings, and general status of the item. For the record we would like to address the following items: FIELD CHANGE 2 This item consisted of replacement of 73.66 Lf of the existing 12" VCP sanitary sewer (crossing the project centerline at approximately station 114+38) with 12" DIP. The replacement of the existing pipe was necessary due to the poor condition of the pipe. We have requested a breakdown of the $ 6,240.00 L.S. price quoted in the July 13, 1988 letter from L. H. Lacy Co., copy attached. To date we have received no response. FIELD CHANGE 4 This item has been established to eliminate any splices in existing water services which would be located under the proposed pavement. We have no objection to L. H. Lacy Co.'s proposal for this item which is contained in the July 13, 1988 letter, copy attached. FIELD CHANGE 5 This item consists of the installation of an 8" valve in the existing 8" water line, at paving station 97+30, in order to eliminate night lowereings of the existing 8" water line at several storm sewer laterals. Because of the fact that the subsequent water line lowerings were accomplished during the day the City benefits from a better quality of installation and the elimination of several line shutdowns requiring attention of City personnel. L. H. Lacy Co.'s August 9, 1988 proposal for this work, copy attached, is acceptable. 17103 Preston Road · Suite 100 · i.I1 118 · Dallas. Texas 75248 · Phone 214/248-4900 FIELD CHANGE 6 This item was generated by our field representative's observation that one of the proposed pipe supports for the proposed extension of the existing 12" Sanitary Sewer Aerial Crossing might be eliminated by repositioning the other five proposed pipe supports. To date we have not received a response to our letter of 8-18-88 requesting a proposal from L.H. Lacy Co. for a reduction in the L.S. bid price for Pay Item 582.14. FIELD CHANGE 7 This item originated with L. H. Lacy Co.'s discovery that the existing 8" water line was not located where indicated on the plans, but instead was in conflict with storm sewer line "B". We rejected L. H. Lacy Co.'s original proposal in this matter, due to technical reasons, and we have not received a new proposal at this time. FIELD CHANGE 8 In order to facilitate a slightly different construction sequence than that originally suggested in the bidding documents, L. H. Lacy proposed an alternative plan for the use of portable concrete traffic barriers and barrel guard rail in the letter of August 16, 1988, copy attached. We have no objection to this proposal. FIELD CHANGE 9 This field change consists of the addition of a 6" valve in an existing water line in a location where "as built" plans indicated one would be located for isolation and repairs. Installation of the valve as proposed is necessary for the proper installation of the improvements proposed under the Contract. This item is addressed in the August 29, 1988 letter, copy attached. We have no objections to this item as proposed. FIELD CHANGE 10 This item was proposed in the letter of September 2, 1988, copy attached. It provides for the installation of a 2" water service tap on the existing 16" water line located on the east side of Denton Tap Road. This proposed 2" service replaces a poorly installed existing water service which is composed of four 1" services which are combined into a manifold at the service end. We have no objection to this item as proposed. We trust that the above accurately reflects the state of Field Extras associated with this project. We ask that you respond promptly to those items identified above as needing a response. If you have any questions pertaining to the above, please call me. Sincerely, John C. Karlsruher, P.E.
