ENGINEERS · PLANNERS LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS · SURVEYORS DALLAS · FORT WORTH FAX MEMORANDUM Ken: I was recently in a DRC meeting regarding the proposed Alford Media site on State Road south of Thweatt Road. One of the issues raised by Mike Martin was the capacity of the road and bridge on State Road and whether it could handle truck traffic. We have learned that there is an 80' reinforced concrete bridge over Cottonwood Creek that was built in 1963. According to Mr. Van McEIroy, chief bridge engineer with TxDoT in Mesquite, all bridges are assumed to be adequate for truck traffic unless posted otherwise. He indicated there was a state law to that effect. This was news to me, but it seems to indicate that we should have no concerns if the load information is not posted at the bridge. If we could show that there is no load information posted, would this be adequate to resolve the issue about truck traffic on State Road? Please advise. Thanks!
