GENERALNOTES
1. The details on this submittal are prepared in compliance with Federal Department of Labor ~
Occupational Safe{y and Health Administration (OSHA} 2226 Federal Register 29 CFR Part 1926.
Subpan P titled Excavations Trenching and Shodno.
2. Recommendations and details on this submittal are for the referenced site and project
specifically and are not for rouse.
3. Slope recommendaliens, unless noted. are for short term cuts In soil. Short term under this
submittal shall mean 72 hours or less. When the contractor must use open cut slopes for longer
penads. the slope shall be cut with eight (8) degrees less incline from the horizontal than shown on
the drawing included with this Trench Safety Plan.
4. Ground water and euHace drainage management during conitru~tion are ~hu reij;x~nsfDillty el the
contractor, In the event ground water and the resulting unstable conditions are encountered. Site
Development Engineering, Inc shall be called to determine if modlflcalion to this submittal is required

5. Trench shield or shoring with Sheeting shall be used for vertical cut trenches over five (5) feet in
depth when made in noncohesive backfill.
6. The method of trench protection used shall be as shown on the attached detail sheet(s).
Sheeting shall be equal to the hardwood plywood as manufactured by Shor Form. Spacing between
shoring frames shall not exceed eight (8) feet on center for cohesive soils. If conditions are
encountered which require sheeling. the spacing shal) be reduced to four (4) feet on center.
7. Contractor shall place ladders In trenches deeper than four (4) feet such that no more than 25
feet of lateral travel is required for a person in the excavation to reach a ladder for egress.
6. Periodic inspections of the site are to be made by contractors qualified representative {meeting
Competent Person requirements under OSHA ). These inspections shall be made daily or more
frequently as c~nditions indicate is needed.
