Zn lieu of b" of lime stabilization beneath the concrete paving, we
have increased the paving thickness to 6". Subgrade is to be
prepared as fol,laws
1. ~Il vegetation and organic tap soil shall be stripped
from th+e parking area, approximately 6".
2. Soil exposed by the str~.pping activities in fil]. areas or
transitional areas (fill to cut} should be scarified to
a depth on the order of 5 a.nches, and recompacted at
moistu~ce content above optimum value (-~.~ to 3$) to at
least 95 percent of the maximum density detez^nnined by
Standard Proctor Px'ocedures (ASTM D-698).
3. Fi1I areas, if required, are to be placed in 9" lifts and
compacted as specified in Number 2 alcove.
We believe this will obtain better performance Qf the paving on
this site.
Very truly yours,
~•
