RE: Grease problem at Braewood Shopping Center
Dear Mr. Chan:
Recently there was a major sewage baqkup in Braewood Shopping
Center due to an accumulation of grease in the sewer lines.
Although you may regularly have your~grease trap pumped, this may
not be enough to avoid future problems.
The Environmental Health Department as well as the Water
Utilities Department is recommending!that operators use a liquid
degreasing agent to help reduce the ~uildup of grease in the
sewer lines. This product is available at most chemical
companies.
In the future, tenants will be finedlfor allowing grease to
accumulate in the City's main sewer line due to improper
maintenance. Be aware that when there is a sewage backup into
your establishment, food service mus~ cease immediately.
For the benefit of your establishment, you are strongly advised
to consider using a degreasing agent,
