The soil gas samplers are installed and locations are marked with orange flags - 18 samplers total in a 6 sampler
by 3 sampler grid. Please take care not to disturb the flags or samplers, and we will return to collect them about
mid-day on Wednesday Dec 28. It will probably take us 1-2 hours to collect them. If Wed is not convenient,

FYI - I received a call from the Digtess line locators earlier saying that they couldn't locate the gas line that went
from the road to the on-site building so they had to submit the locate to another department. Apparently with
the above-ground piping gone, they rely on a transmitter that was supposed to be placed in the line, but that
must not have worked. A supervisor is supposed to come out to try and locate the line, but according to the guy I
spoke to, they are allowed an additional 5 days to complete the locate. Since this line would be in the area we
will be sampling, it may still be an active line, and it could be at a depth we could reach with our drill bit, it would
be a bad idea to proceed without their go-ahead. I was hoping they would contact me before I left today, but no
luck as of yet so I thought I should give you a heads up. I will contact the supervisor tomorrow and see if he
plans to get out tomorrow to find the line. If he finds it, we'll continue on as planned with a Friday install. If he
needs more time, and with your approval, we can shift the install to next week, hopefully Dec 29-30, and the
retrieval for Jan 3-4, and still take advantage of a holiday weekend.

All - We are set up to mark sample locations and then install the samplers on Friday Dec 23 between about 9 am
- 2 pm and will retrieve them on Wednesday Dec 28 if that retrieval day is ok with the on-site guys. Since we
are penetrating the ground to deeper than 16", I called the utility locator (Digtess). Locators will probably be
on-site between now and Friday at random times.

Mindi, Keith, Richard - I did speak with the lab and they indicated about 5 days in the ground would be
sufficient. Based on that and the weather forecast, and with Rick and Keith's ok, Don and I have decided to
mark the site and get the samplers in the ground between Wed-Fri next week (12/21-23). We'll firm that up
early next week after looking at the updated weather forecasts. We'll then take them out of the ground on
12/27 or 12/28. That way we can take advantage of the Christmas holiday (presumable no work on-site for a
few days) and complete the sampling before the end of the year.

One question...do you have soil information available for the site, specifically soil type, moisture content (percent
water saturation), and soil porosity of the soil column above the water table? We will need this information to
generate the results for the sampling. Valerie

Mindi - I am attaching the workplan for the recommended invasive soil screening at the former Coppell
Auto Center located at 461 West Bethel Road in Coppell. Last week I spoke and visited with Mr. Rick
O'Dell, the construction inspector over the site, and showed him the proposed sampling locations. I had
hoped we could get out there this week, but there is too much rain in the forecast, plus we still need to
order the samplers. Upon receipt of your approval, verbal or written, we will order the sampling modules
from the lab asap. Looking at the long range weather forecasts, I am thinking we can get out there to put
these samplers in the ground next Wednesday or Thursday (12/21 or 12/22). The lab initially indicated
they would need to stay in the ground up to 2 weeks (that would be a retrieval date of 1/4 or 1/5) but we
are going to talk to them tomorrow with the previous groundwater sampling information in hand and see if
they can give us a more accurate time estimate (maybe shorter so we can finish faster). If you have any
questions, give Don a call. I am in the field tomorrow, but Don will be in the office later in the morning.
