RE: Parking/Safety Issue
Eric,
Just checking in on the status of this inquiry. I know you're very busy and appreciate your time.
I'm planning to visit my neighbors and simply request that they stop parking their multiple vehicles in a
manner that totally obscures visibility in both directions at this intersection, and it would be helpful to know
what the law says. It appears that Texas law only says you cannot park within 20 feet of "a crosswalk at
an intersection". Is this correct?
This situation is very dangerous, and I AGAIN this morning narrowly avoided an accident. If they're
parked legally, however, there's apparently little that can be done.
Brian

Hello,
I am a resident of Brentwood Drive, and for the last several months have been having a problem with
parking near the intersection of Brentwood Drive and Nottingham Drive.
The numerous cars parked at this intersection (as in right up to the corner) nearly every day create a
serious safety issue: the turn from Nottingham Drive onto Brentwood is completely blind, as parked cars
obstruct vision in both directions. On several occasions I have narrowly avoided a collision with a car
speeding (another problem) west on Brentwood while I am attempting to turn left from northbound
Nottingham.
Several residents in this area have teens and long-term guests (apparently), and there are many cars per

household. We've addressed the problem at informal gatherings and even posted polite notes, to no
avail. Can CPD please cite cars parked illegally in this area? Thank you.
Also, a question: the abundance of cars parked along both sides of Brentwood Drive has created a
"gauntlet" scenario for drivers, as there is only room enough for a single car to pass for much of the length
of the street. Is there any way to compel residents to park at least some of their vehicles in a
garage/driveway, to alleviate this annoying and potentially dangerous situation?
Thank you for your time.
Best regards,
Brian Lasagna
