Dear Gary:
I wish we had had time to talk when I saw you at the legal
seminar yesterday at the Belo Mansion, but I had several
attorneys with me who were anxious to get back to the office.
I have to tell you tha~ I am very disappointed and
surprised by your vote concerning the landfill approved for
Weaver Construction Co. You have generally impressed me with
your judgment in the past. Therefore, I was particularly
surprised that you would vote to approve this project in light
of the facts and circumstances.
The City of Coppell is adamantly opposed to this proposed
landfill. We believe it will be extremely detrimental to the
health and welfare of our citizens, will destroy Sandy Lake
Road and will create innumerable traffic problems and
difficulties. Your own city staff recommended denial of this
project. And contrary to some statements that have been made,
we have made our views known in the past on this matter.
personally talked to Milburn Gravley awhile back to make my
concerns known to him. The fact that the Carrollton staff
indicated to our Coppell ci~c__it_y staff that this proposal would
not pass, and the fact we talked with your Mayor and perSonal~
-~ared at your meeting to make our concerns known, indicat~
we were attentive to this problem. We certainly could hav~'-,~
done more to bring opposition to bear on th~s issue, but did/
not feel it was necessary or appropriate in light of
circumstances. I guess we will know better next time.
I sincerely hope that you will reconsider your decision for
the good of our community and for the sake of the excellent
relationship that has been enjoyed in recent years between
Coppell and Carrollton.
