Dear Mr. Penny:
We have received your May 17th letter addressed to Coppell
City Engineer Russell Doyle, and the information on the
possibility of zoning a site for a landfill north of Sandy
Lake Road and west of Interstate 35E. We appreciate the
opportunity to review and comment on this matter.
At this time the City of Coppell is not in favor of this
project because of its potential adverse impact. At least
one major concern is the truck traffic on Sandy Lake Road.
It appears that the proposed traffic patterns of the users
of that site would be in violation of the City of Coppell's
truck route ordinance. I understand that Ms. Kathy Stivers
of the Carrollton Planning Department has a copy of that
ordinance on file.
The Mayor of the City of Coppell, Mark Wolfe, and others are
planning to attend your June 20th City Council meeting to
express their concerns and feelings on the project.
Please keep us informed of any additional plans or
information related to this project.
