Cambridge Phase 2-LR 970129Each section of sewer shall be tested betwee, sucec~,~ivc manholes.
Air shall be Introduced into the pipeline until 4.0 psi gauge preMure has been reached. At that time the flow of att shah be
reduced and Ih= internal air pressure shall be maintained between 3.5 and 4.5 p,~i gauge for at least two (2) minutes to allow
thc ah' tempcratur~ to come to equilibrium with thc tcmperalurc or the pipe walls, PreMure in the pipe shall be cofl.~tantly
monitored i:~ a [ItU~l~ slid hose arrangement separate from the hose used to introduce air into the line.. PrggSul"e In the
pipe shah not be allowed to exceed ~ psi.
After the temperature has atabilb,.ed and no air leaks at the plu~ have been found, the air pressure shall be used to
determine the time lapse required for tho air pressure to drop to 2.5 psi snugs.
If the lime lapse required for the air pressure to decrease form .3.5 to :Z.5 psi exceeds that shown in the following table, the
pip~, shall be presumed to be within acceptable limits for leakage.
If the time lapsed is less than that shown in the table, tho contractor shall make corrections to reduce the leakage to
acceptabla limits.
