Ford Brass Saddles Styles 101 B and 2028
For 3/4" through 2" Taps
Ford's single strap 101 B and double strap 202B brass saddles are designed with built -in flexibility to cover asbestos - cement and/or cast iron
size pipe. The body of the saddle is sized to fit class 200 asbestos - cement but will bend during installation to conform to the smaller size cast
iron or ductile iron material. This eliminates double inventory and guess work when going to the job site.
The body and the nuts of Ford brass saddles are cast from certified 85 -5-5 -5 water works brass conforming to the AWWA C800 standard. The
straps are high quality silicon bronze flattened to provide a wide bearing surface against the pipe. The large Buna -N rubber gasket is grooved
to conform to the pipe surface and bonded in place for easy installation.
Ford's convenient marking system quickly and easily identifies the type of thread in the boss. For AWWA tapered thread the boss has a
machined groove around the top outside edge while the boss for iron pipe thread is smooth.

PW Eagle's integral -bell gas -
keted joint seals your system so
nothing gets in —or out.
No other sewer pipe system
outperforms PW Eagle's at keeping
sewage in and ground water out. Our
factory- installed rubber gaskets (see
Figure 1) ensure that joints maintain
their integrity even when subjected
to deflection and bending. Root
penetration and ground water
pollution are virtually eliminated.
You can bury PW Eagle PVC
shallow —or deep —and know
it won't crack.
PW Eagle sewer pipe is strong
enough to be buried fifty feet
underground and flexible enough to
eliminate shear or beam failures. The
pipe's great flexibility transfers much
of the load to the surrounding earth.
In effect, this PVC pipe /soil system is
one of the strongest in use today.
Chemically inert, PW Eagle PVC
pipe is immune to sewer gases
and hydrogen sulfide attack.
Smooth, non - wetting interior walls
make PW Eagle sewer pipe highly
resistant to abrasion from waste
or slurries. Erosion, pitting and
tuberculation are virtually eliminated,
and corrosive soil conditions have
no effect. You can bury this pipe
anywhere and know it will last.
Plus, you'll save money
throughout its long life.
You'll typically save time and use
fewer people when you install PVC.
Compared to other pipe materials, it's
light in weight (see Tables 1 A and 1 B)
and handles easily in lengths of up to
20 feet.
Acceptances: PW Eagle sewer pipe
in sizes 4" through 15" is listed by
Testing Engineers Internationale or
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc
and accepted by most rural and
municipal utility districts.

The smooth interior walls of
PW Eagle's PVC sewer pipe
provide superior flow
characteristics for minimum
energy loss from friction.
Often, you can use flatter
slopes or smaller diameter pipe.
When cleaning becomes
necessary, all you'll usually
need is a hydraulic jet. You can
also use standard —or auger
type — commercial cleaning and
rodding equipment to clean
PW Eagle sewer pipe. Most
equipment manufacturers say
that cleaning PVC lines is no
different from cleaning other
types of pipelines.
You're assured of premium
quality when you buy from
PW Eagle.
All our pipe is manufactured
with the finest raw materials
in one of eleven plants. Every
manufacturing step is regulated
by rigid quality control under
the supervision of skilled
technicians. Our finished
products are subjected to
numerous ASTM tests,
including impact, flattening,
acetone immersion, visual
inspection, and joint tightness.
Our Sewer Pipe isn't just
PVC ... it's PW Eagle.
For long -term service without
hidden defects, PW Eagle's
PVC sewer pipe outperforms all
others.
These next four pages will help you design your PW Eagle sewer system:

Flow Factors: Because of the
superior flow characteristics of PVC
pipe, economies can sometimes
be realized through use of smaller
diameter pipe or shallower grades.
Refer to Table 3 for minimum slopes.
Structural Capacity: PW Eagle
sewer pipe is a flexible conduit that
takes advantage of the support
capacity of the surrounding earth
by transferring a major portion of
the load directly to it. Deflection of
the pipe varies with pipe stiffness,
class and density of soil, degree of
compaction, depth of burial, and live
load.
Refer to Table 4 for descriptions of
material classifications. See Table 5
for degree of compaction and Table 6
for maximum burial depths.

Compaction: This guide
approximates degree of compaction
from embedment class and method
of placement information.
Compaction values are in percent of
standard Proctor density and relative
densities are shown in parentheses.
Note: This table serves as an
approximate guide defining average
Proctor densities attained through
various methods of soil consolidation
in different classes of soil. The table is
intended to provide guidance and is
not recommended for design use.
Actual design values should be
developed by the engineer for
specific soils at specific moisture
contents.
Reference: Unless stated otherwise,
the Handbook of PVC Pipe, Design
and Construction, by Uni -Bell PVC
Pipe Association is the source
document from which the figures
and tables in this brochure were
developed.
Installation
PW Eagle sewer pipe should be
installed in straight alignment at
the joints. Minor curvature should
be achieved by bending the pipe
lengths. Refer to Table 7.

PW Eagle sewer pipe will withstand
vertical deflection in excess of 30%
without failure. A safety factor of 4:1
is applied to this value resulting in a
7.5% maximum long -term deflec-
tion recommendation. At this level of
deflection, joints remain tight, service
connections are easily made,
and cleaning is not impaired. This
ability to deflect without sacrificing
performance is a major factor in
allowing PW Eagle sewer pipe to
support earth and live loads better
than more rigid conduits. Deflection
can be accurately predicted from
Table 8. From this table, it is apparent
that soil density in the pipe zone
is the most important factor in
supporting the pipe. This data was
developed from laboratory tests
and direct field measurements.

general requirements for Polyvinyl
Chloride (PVC) water transmission
and distribution pipe in sizes 14 -inch
through 24 -inch, with integral bell
and spigot joints for the conveyance
of water and other liquids.
Pipe: Pipe shall meet the require-
ments of AWWA C905 "Polyvinyl
Chloride (PVC) Pressure Pipe and
Fabricated Fittings, 14 -inch through
48 -inch, for Water Transmission and
Distribution ".
Other Requirements:
• Provisions must be made for ex-
pansion and contraction at each joint
with an elastomeric seal.
* The bell shall consist of an integral
thickened wall section with an elas-
tomeric seal. The wall thickness in
the bell section shall conform to the
requirements of Section 6.2 of ASTM
D3139, "Standard Specification for
Joint for Plastic Pressure Pipes Using
Flexible Elastomeric Seals."
• When used for potable water
systems, pipe shall meet the re-
quirements of ANSI/NSF 61 "Drink-
ing Water System Components
— Health Effects."
• The pipe shall be manufactured to
cast iron outside diameters (CIOD) in
accordance with AWWA C905.
• The seal shall meet the require-
ments of ASTM F477 "Standard for
Elastomeric Seals (Gaskets) for
Joining Plastic Pipe."
The Sealing System
PW Eagle's joints employ gasket
systems that have excellent track
records in the field. The joining
systems are factory-made with
rubber gaskets installed in the ring
groove at the time of manufacture.
The gaskets are designed to retain
in the ring groove. When assembly
technique is consistent with PW
Eagle instructions, the secured
gasket systems will not displace.
The gaskets are classified to ANSI/
NSF Standard 61.
Cross - Sectional Views
The following drawings show the
cross - sectional views of the pipe
before and after assembly. When
the pipes are pushed together the
rubber in the seal is compressed.
Compression gives rise to a sealing
pressure that acts on the socket and
spigot as shown in the illustration
below.
Gasket in place.

NOTE: Gasket drawings are
representations. Actual gaskets may
vary from drawings
Installation Advantages of
the PW Eagle joint
The gasket is factory installed, so
there are no gaskets to install on the
job site. This avoids the possibility
of installing the wrong gasket or
improperly installing the correct
gasket. The installer should leave
the factory- installed gasket in place
4' and simply follow PW Eagle Joint
Assembly instructions for problem -
free joint performance.
Installation Standard
AWWA C900 and C905 pipe
should be installed in accordance
with AWWA C605 "Underground
Installation of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
Pressure Pipe and Fittings for Water."
joint Assembly
PW Eagle's C900 and C905 pipe will
arrive on the job site with the gasket
installed at the factory, ready for
assembly.
Assemble as follows:
1. Inspect the bell and remove any
foreign matter such as mud, sand or
ice. DO NOT REMOVE THE GASKET
FROM THE PIPE.
2. Clean off the spigot end of the pipe
and apply lubricant evenly, covering
the beveled nose and sealing surface
up to the stop mark. NOTE: Use only
lubricant supplied by PW Eagle — the
use of other lubricants may cause
deterioration of pipe or gasket.
3. Place the beveled end in the
companion bell and provide straight
alignment.
4. Push the pipe straight into the bell
with a block and bar until the stop
mark on the spigot is even with the
end of the bell.
5. NOTE: DO NOT ASSEMBLE
THE JOINT BY SWINGING OR
STABBING.
6. NOTE: For larger sizes of pipe,
additional mechanical assistance
(such as a come -along or hydraulic
jack). DO NOT ASSEMBLE THE
JOINT USING A BACKHOE BUCKET.
7. Allowable axial deflection at the
joint varies with each manufacturer's
design. For PW Eagle products,
allowable deflection is two degrees.
For more information, see PW Eagle's
technical bulletin "Gasketed Pipe
Assembly."
Gasketed AWWA C900
& C905 Transmission
& Distribution pipe is
the clear choice for
municipal applications.
Tapping PVC — C900
PW Eagle's C900 and C905 pipe
may be tapped either dry or under
pressure. There are three types of
tapping equipment and methods.
1. Direct Tapping
The only pipes that may be direct -
tapped are C900 DR14 and DR18 in
sizes 6 -inch through 12 -inch. When
direct tapping, follow the procedures
in Uni- Bell's Uni -B -8 "Recommended
Practice for the Direct Tapping of
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pressure
Water Pipe."
2. Saddle Tapping
All sizes and DRs of C900 and C905
may be saddle- tapped. Maximum
tap size is 2 inches for saddles.
Service clamps or saddles used with
PVC pipe must:
a. be designed for use with CIOD
PVC pipe
b. provide full support around the
circumference of the pipe
c. provide bearing area of sufficient
width along the axis of the pipe
(minimum 2 -inch width for taps up
to 1 inch diameter; minimum 3 -inch
width for taps 11/4 to 2 inch diameter)
3. Tapping Sleeve or Valve
All sizes and DRs of C900 and C905
may be tapped using a tapping
sleeve or valve. For connections
greater than 2 inches in diameter,
this method is required. Maximum
connection is size -on -size.
WARNING:
Do not use PVC pipe to con-
vey air or other gases under
pressure. If failure should
occur, the result would be
catastrophic. Rapid expansion
of the compressed gas would
send shards of plastic over a
wide area and could result in
serious injury or death.

FIRE PROTECTION
Designed and built to provide unsurpassed fire protection,
the Clow Medallion is clearly a step in front. Utilizing com-
puter developed data, Clow engineers painstakingly
sculpted interior surfaces to provide the smoothest possible
waterway, resulting in the lowest possible loss of head
through the hydrant. The result? More water to the nozzles
faster. With the Clow Medallion, it's performance that
counts.
MAINTENANCE
While providing fire protection is a hydrant's primary func-
tion, ease of maintenance and repair are valid concerns
of maintenance crews. Extraordinary steps were taken to
ensure that the Clow Medallion can be routinely serviced
and repaired easily. All working parts are readily accessible
from the top of the hydrant.
70 -YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
The Medallion equals or exceeds the requirements of the
American Water Works Association (AWWA). Also it has
been listed by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and is
approved by Factory Mutual (FM). Structurally and opera-
tionally this is clearly a superior Fire Hydrant. It's easy to see
why it carries a full 1 0-year limited warranty on materials
and workmanship.
