RE: Sales Tax 2012 Residential Street Improvements
Whispering Hills Drive from Sandy Lake Rd. to Magnolia Drive
Dear Resident:
The citizens of Coppell approved in November 2007, and reauthorized again in November
2011, the use of 1/40 cent of the sales tax for maintenance of residential streets. At the July 10th
City Council meeting, a contract with J. Volk Consultants, Inc. was approved for the design of
a project to reconstruct the above referenced street.
Representatives working with the consultant will be in your area soon to begin the preparatory
work necessary for the design of the project. Workers from survey companies, utility locators,
and engineers will gather the data necessary to design the new street, sidewalk and
underground utilities. Their personnel should have identification and be in marked vehicles.
They will stake the surveyed areas with markers to aid in the design work, so please do not
remove the stakes.
Once the preparatory work has taken place, the city will host a public meeting to discuss design
elements for that portion of Whispering Hills Drive between River Rd. and Sandy Lake Rd.
This portion of street currently has wider pavement, drainage ditches along the sides, and no
sidewalk. The city will seek input from the stakeholders in this area to help determine the
appropriate replacement for this section. A separate notification will be sent once the specifics
of this meeting are established.
