Dear Mr. Davis:
As you know, we have been attempting to repair our parking lot due to the water
line that was put in by the City of Coppell.
Early last week, the person who had been doing the repair work met with John
Robinson and me about the status of the work. When asked if the work was
satisfactory to repair the lot, Mr. Robinson replied that the work done was
satisfactory but that there was still a large area where the water was setting, with
no possibility of runoff. This standing water, coupled with the fact that there is no
grass or rock in the area still left the area unusable as far as parking is concerned.
The contractor intimated to me that he thought the area probably had standing
water in the same place before the water line was put in. I know for a fact that this
is not true. Even during the periods of heavy rain, it was always possible to park
cars in this area.
I would like to put this issue to rest as soon as possible. I saw a worker digging a
small trench early this week along the affected area. I really do not think that
anyone thinks this is an adequate solution. From our experience with the soil in
this area, as well as your experience in working with the same area, I think that
you would agree that the only real solution is to put down heavy flex base in the
unusable areas. I understand that the City and the Contractor make an attempt to
be as economic as possible when doing a job. However, all we want is to be able
to use the parking lot in the same way as we could before the work was done.
Mr. Davis, we have been working on this issue since early March 1995. I think we
could make all of our lives easier by professionally and competently attending to
this issue promptly and putting it to rest once and for all.
