Carrollton-CS 890119 MEMORANDUM
January 19, 1989
TO: Mayor and City Council ~..~
FROM: Alan D. Ratliff, City Manager
SUBJECT: Proposed Landfill
REF: Telephone Conversation Mike Eastland 1-18-89;
Letter Received Russell Doyle/City of Carrollton
I have contacted the City Manager of the City of Carrollton
regarding the proposed landfill and he has given me
assurances that at the time I contacted him he was unaware
of any application being made for this proposed landfill.
He told me that when he found out, he told his staff to
please contact our staff and provide us with the information
and documentation. He apologized for not personally
contacting me.
I asked Mr. Eastland as to what his feelings were about this
landfill site and he stated there were numerous negative
factors in considering this proposed landfill; however, when
he looked at the broader, long-term need for landfill sites,
he would certainly have to give it serious consideration.
I reiterated our concern as to the truck traffic on a narrow
two-lane road and over a two-lane bridge and reminded him of
our previous desire to designate this as a PAS highway
project. Mr. Eastland said he understood our concern and
felt that they would probably have to find another route to
access the landfill site. I asked to be kept informed of
this project and stated I would likewise keep you informed.
No mention was made of the annexation of the power line
easement.
