Corridor Major In~stment Study.
he SH 114 Major Investment Study is
focused on transportation
improvements in the SH 114 corridor
located north of DFW Airpod. The study

transportation in and surrounding the study
area. Included are city governments, county
agencies, council of governments, state
agencies, federal agencies, toll road
authorities, mass transit agencies, airpod

WHAT'S NEW }
The Path to
Excellence
[he Texas Department of
Transpodation is dedicated to
provide transportation solutions in a timely
manner. Unforeseen variables in project
development sometimes interfere with
project progression. The SH 114 Major
Investment Study project schedule has been
modified since the September issue of SH
114 MIS News. The project completion path
was modified to reflect changes concerning
the hiring of consulting engineers who will
assist TxDOT and the technicat committee
in analysis and development of transportation
strategies. The impact is a five month delay,
The new path is summarized as follows:
Stage I (September '97 to September
'98): Definedesign criteria. Develop basic
alternatives. Hold public meeting.
Stage 2 (September '98 to January '99):
Develop transportation strategies for the
corridor
Stage 3 (February '99 to October '99):
Produce conceptual studies of promising
strategies. Develop consensus on a locally
preferred alternative.
Stage 4 (October '99 to April 2000):
Produce detailed study of locally preferred
alternative.
Stage $ (May 2000 to November 2000):
Acquire regional approval for the locally
preferred alternative,
Stage 6 (December 2000 to February
2001): Complete FENFONSI and acquire
regulatory agency approvals. Begin detailed
design.
