During the reconstruction of Deforest Rd. we mentioned to Mr. Larry Davis and Mr. George Marsh that we were working on a study for another municipality that addresses utility trench constructio and related potential causes of failure in the associated pavement patches. The impetus for our investigation was the result of too many pavement failures occurring at recently utility replaceme locations. • The investigation is limited to 12 i11ciidiameter or less PVC water and sewer line constcyjtion and pavee iPtgatch decision flo c arts and commentary that pecifically address potential causes o' fai ure and re u on thereof. The charts and commentary delve into training of City personnel, geotechnical investigations, existing City Standard Utility Patch design sections, minimum pipe depth, trench dimensions, embedment materials, backfill, flowable fill select fill, utilization of geosynthetics, flexible base/lime/cement/cem-lime subgra em AC,AC/PCC and PCC pavement thickness, pavement cutting, pavement "T" section configuration, partial/full lane construction, crack/joint sealing, QA necessary by City personnel and QC testing by an independe laboratory. We are nearing the completion of our utility trench and pavement patch decision flow chart and commentary development. The next phase of our investigation will consist of putting together a related training seminar. Prior to this phase we would be glad to me- - , h your engineers and inspectors to share what we have put together thus far and discu , pu they might ha e an potential for training of City of Coppell personnel. \i t, / 0. 1 /$ ) 7v f j Please let us know if you and/or your engineers would be interested in meeting to dis the abc design flow charts and commentary. In the mean time we have attached a letter nterest regarding necessary materials testing for upcoming 2013 City of Coppell cons ction projects. Again, thank you and we look forward to working with you again.
