Re: Wagon Wheel Ranch Elevated Storage Tank
Entry Features and Logo
Dear Mr. Griffin:
We expect to finish our final design of the Wagon Wheel Ranch Elevated Storage Tank project within the next
few days and need the City' s assistance with the tank logo. We are enclosing two copies each of conceptual
logo designs, tank service door entry, features, and a clock design for the Wagon Wheel Ranch for this project.
Please review and comment on the logo and entry features at your earliest convenience.
At this stage, we have shown the tank with a white finish which matches the existing tank. We recommend the
white finish if the current City of Coppell logo is used. If the City decides to use the standard City of Coppell
logo, we suggest eliminating the D/FW Airport portion of the logo. Eliminating that portion of the logo allows
us to use larger letters which are more appropriate for the 2.0 million gallon tank. We have included a sketch
of the modified logo for your consideration.
If the wagon wheel logo is used, perhaps the tank should be painted a buff or beige color (similar to the City of
Irving's Belt Line Road Tank at Hwy. 114).
If the City the City is still considering the clock on the tank, we recommend that the tank column be
architecturally enhanced to match the theme of the tank. This could be accomplished by the use of form liners
for the concrete tank column. Perhaps the cedar plank form liner would add to the characteristic of the tank
and the wagon wheel theme of the entire area. We have enclosed a copy of the form liner information for your
review and are working with both the tank contractors and form liner suppliers to evaluate the feasibility and
cost of this approach. ..

We understand this type of decision may involve other staff members and possibly the City Council. Often
times, we have seen this type of decision take several months. In order to avoid any further delays on this
project, we suggest the City bid the tank project with one of these recommended logo designs. If the logo
design is revised at a later date, a change order could be issued to cover the difference in cost (if any).
We are available to discuss this project further at your convenience.
