ALLOY:
6063 aluminum alloy, T -1 temper. (Former designation T -42)
SPECIFICATION COMPLIANCE:
Federal Specification WW- C -540c. Underwriters' Laboratories UL -6, latest revision.
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C80.5.
THREAD PROTECTORS:
Aluminum Rigid Conduit is shipped with thread protectors, which shield threads, and simpir

ADVANTAGES OF ALUMINUM RIGID CONDUIT
Aluminum rigid conduit offers the electrical industry all the inherent physical
advantages of this light metal at a cost competitive with ordinary conduit.
LIGHT WEIGHT
The light weight of aluminum in combination with
high strength makes the aluminum ideal for any
conduit installation. A 10 foot length of 4 inch
aluminum rigid conduit weighs only 38 pounds,
while a comparable length of steel conduit weighs
98 pounds. With aluminum conduit approximately
one third the weight of steel, the costs of handling,
fabricating, and installation are lowered substan-
tially.
CORROSION RESISTANCE
Aluminum conduit resists most corrosive atmos-
pheres and industrial environments that usually at-
tack other types of metallic conduit. In these appli-
cations, aluminum requires no painting or replace-
ment, resulting in considerable savings in mainte-
nance costs.
LOWER COST
Aluminum conduit is competitive in material cost
with steel conduit. Because of the ease of handling
and fabricating aluminum in the field, the installed
costs of aluminum conduit are usually low(:
ordinary conduit.
ATTRACTIVE APPEARANCE
Aluminum presents a consistently good al
ance, remaining clean and bright without p,
or maintenance. Aluminum won't rust or lea',
coloring streaks and stains.
NONSPARKING
Aluminum is nonsparking, eliminating haz
explosive atmospheres.
NONMAGNETIC
Nonmagnetic aluminum conduit reduces
loss due to voltage drop, resulting in power
throughout life of installation.
EASE OF INSTALLATION
Aluminum conduit can be readily cut, be
threaded on the job, and it requires no specia
or installation equipment. In installations
large size conduit, ease of field fabricatior
special significance.
RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
The conventional tools and practices used on ordinary
conduit can be utilized on Aluminum Rigid Conduit,
CUTTING: A hacksaw is recommended to cut sizes 1' /:"
and smaller. Larger sizes can be cut with power cut -oft
equipment.
BENDING: Standard EMT benders, one size larger than
the size of the conduit, should be used on conduit sizes 1"
and smaller. For sizes over 1 ", conventional equipment is
recommended.
THREADING: Sharp dies and conventional cutting oil
should be used for aluminum conduit. Excellent results can
be obtained with a general purpose emulsifiable oil.
FITTINGS: Aluminum fittings are recommended; however,
cadmium plated or galvanized fittings are satisfactory for
most installations.
IN CONCRETE: Aluminum conduit can safely be emi
in concrete where chlorides are not present, whetl
installation is below or above grade. The 1963 revi
the ACI Building Code 318 published by the Arr
Concrete Institute prohibits the addition of ad,
containing calcium chloride to any concrete that ma
contact with prestressing steel. Aluminum conduit
not be directly imbedded in concrete containing
chlorides, such as calcium chloride, unwashed beacl
sea water, or coral bearing aggregates. Aluminum
can be safely installed in concrete containing chlorid(
adequate protective coating of bitumastic or aspha
paint is applied, or the conduit wrapped with plastic to
IN SOIL OR CINDERS: Aluminum conduit or steel c
when buried in soil or cinders, should be treated
protective coating of bitumastic or asphalt -base p,+
wrapped with plastic tape.

Liquidtight Connectors
With Insulated Throat
Type 4Q TG
For Use In Severe
Industrial And
Environmental
Atmospheres
Standard zinc electroplated fit-
tings otter more than ade-
quate protection in areas
relatively free of highly cor-
rosive fumes and liquids.
However, in an atmosphere
where severe contaminants
are present, a heavy coating
of zinc galvanize offers one of
the best protections against
corrosion. In the processes of
hot - dipping or mechanically
galvanizing, a large amount of
zinc is deposited on the sur-
face of the base metal to a
minimum of .002" or about 10
times the usual electroplating
thickness.
In the Series "40- -TG ",
mechanically galvanized finish
is provided on small sizes
through 2" on angle connec-
tors and through 3" on
straights. Hot -dip galvanized
finish is provided on sizes
2112" and larger on angle con-
nectors and 31/2" and larger
on straights. Mechanical gal-
vanizing provides coating
thickness and corrosion pro-
tection comparable to the hot.
dip process but offers the ad-
ditional advantage of providing
heavy plating on threaded
surfaces as well. Mechanical
galvanizing meets the
performance Criteria of
ASTMA -153 Class D and
8-454.
=Kknr M4X_71 =_- ='c
The Process of Mechanical
Galvanizing on Smaller Parts
Provides:
Excellent coating uniformity
on all surface areas, par-
ticularly on threads.
Complete coating assurance
with proper mating of thread-
ed parts.
A heavier coating than is
possible with conventional
methods of electroplating.
Quality and thickness com-
parable to the hot -dip
galvanizing method.
Favorable comparison with the
hot -dip process of parts tested
in salt spray and industrial
atmospheres.

Vertical and Horizontal Interlocking
For completely enclosed and locked -in duct banks
• They snap together vertically for fast, secure field assembly_
• Only two components, base and intermediate, are needed Banding is not
necessary.
• With the Vertical -Lok spacer, ducts are accurately separated. Spacers lock
firmly together, preventing separation while workman walk atop the bank
• Alignment of the duct bank sections is relatively easy with this completely
locked -in construction.
• To prevent the top tier from floating during encased burial, it is suggested
that an intermediate spacer be used as a cap.
• Used in both EB and DB installations.
• Vertical and horizontal interlocking permits building a strong, lock -in duct
bank. A wide baseplate provides solid support for heaviest loads.
Intermediate and Base Spacer Dimensions
Base Spacers provide
a 3' separation
between bottom row of
ducts & trench floor,
except for 4'x1', which
is 1 -3/4'.

Process Control Cables
-- tstrumentation /Process Control Tray Cable 600 Volts — TC11
Belticn
Construction:
Soft annealed bare or tinned copper conductors, PVC insulated
with a nylon overcoat, 90 °C PVC Jacket, TFN, TFFN or THHN
style singles.
Voltage Rating:
600 Volts
Temperature Rating:
90 °C
Application:
These cables are suitable for installation in wet or dry locations.
Cable jackets are sunlight resistant, impervious to moisture and
vapor penetration, and non - propagating. The cables can be used
in raceways, supported by messenger wire, outdoor applications
and direct burial applications.
Unshielded
Twisted non - shielded instrument pairs provide a minimal OD
allowing greater tray and conduit fill. Non - shielded instrument
pairs may be utilized when recommended by the instrument
manufacturer and used in a metallic conduit.
Overall Shield
Recommended for use in instrumentation and control applica-
tions where signals are transmitted in excess of 100 millivolts
except in areas where high voltage and current sources creates
excessive noise interference. The Beldfoil° shield with drain wire
provides 100% coverage for maximum shield effectiveness.
Individually Shielded and Overall Shielded
Individually shielded pairs or triads with an overall shield are
recommended for use in instrument and control applications
where optimum noise rejection is required. Individual pair /triad
shields are fully isolated from each other and contain a separate
drain wire for grounding, to provide maximum protection from
crosstalk and common mode interference. Cables with an overall
shield provide additional electrostatic noise protection.

• Meel NEC 410 -57(b) receptacle re-
quirements for wet locations A recep-
lacle installed outdoors where exposed
to weather or in other wet locations shall
be in a weatherproof enclosure, the in-
tegrity of which is not affected when the
receptacle is in use (attachment plug
cap inserted) '
• For industrial, commercial or residen-
tial use as a general purpose receptacle
or for powering portable equipment not
exceeding medium duty ratings.
• Mounts on FS or FD device boxes or
equivalents, either single gang or mul-
tiple gang with single gang openings.
,- attire_
• Provides full protection in damp or wet
locations per NEC 410 -57. Gasketed
spring door cover closes tightly auto-
matically to protect receptacle from
moisture and dirt when not in use. With
plug inserted, a heavy -duty gasket in
throat of receptacle 'seals" around it to
keep out moisture and dirt.
• Receptacle interiors comply with
NEMA Standards WD -1 and WD -5.
• Receptacle interiors are specification
grade, back and side wired.
• Single cover units accommodate
NEMA configuration receptacles for
locking or non - locking blade plugs, or
toggle switches. Duplex units accom-
modate one receptacle and one toggle
switch or any combination of the two.
• Covers open all the way, permitting
easy plug insertion and withdrawal. Also
permits adequate access to cover
screws for easy attachment of cover to
FS. FD or other device box. Large head
cover screws are captivated.
• Unique design of spring door hinge
Provides smooth action to eliminate the
Possibility of bending of its stainless steel
shaft. Duplex units have a separate hinge
shaft for each spring door cover to re-
duce stress on the shafts.
• Spring door cover puts pressure on
Plug (without tilting plug) to hold plug in
best position for providing optimum
weatherproof seal.
• Stainless steel hinge springs are com-
pletely enclosed — inside and out —for
superior resistance against corrosion.
