Re: Village Parkway Pump Station
City of Coppell, Texas
Subject: Dual Service
Dear Sanford,
In regard to our conversation last week about the dual service arrangement at
the Village Parkway Pump Station, I would like to make the following comments:
1. A dual prima~y with one set of transformers in our opinion does not meet
the requirements for "duplicate electrical circuits" as described in the
State Board of Insurance Waterworks Regulation TW ~ 3 dated 6-11-71.
2. A transformer failure in a single transformer service clearly shows that
the circuits are not duplicate since that failure disables the pump station
until the utility can install a replacement. The down time will depend on
whether the utility has that particular transformer in stock.
3. According to Mr. Jerry Itidalgo at the [leaith Department, a change to a
single transformer service would require a resubmittal of the plans to the
Plan Review Department at the state.
Since the Village Parkway Pump Station is likely to be the City's only pump
station in the near future we feel that the dual service including dual
service primaries and transformers is warranted.
Please call if you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance.
Sincerely,
~trla, P.E.
