CF-Village-CS 890808/ GINN, INC. CONSULTING EL GI EERS August 7, 19~9 Mr. Russ~l~l~, P.E., City Ensineer City of C~pell P.O. Bo~478 Copp~e~ 75019 Re: Corps of Engineem, FI~ Water Rele~e Villase Parkway Pump S~tion ~ar Mr. ~yle: As you are aware, the Corps of Engineers is releasing flood waters from Lake Grapevine and Lake Lewisville. Due to the combination of heavy rains and controlled releases, Denton Creek has been at or near flood stage since mid May. This in turn is impacting both the Village Parkway Pump Station and Reservoir project. The flood water release has created backwater conditions on the drainage channel adjacent to the existing Sandy Lake Road Station. The backwater and surchar$ed ground water elevation has made construction of the 36" off-site supply line all but impossible. Additionally, the backwater is preventing completion of the drainage channel on the station site. Cajun Contractors has shut down their off-site pipelayin8 operations since mid May (approximately 11 weeks). Crews were rescheduled to complete on-site station pipins during the delay. Therefore, we are unable to determine the exact time delay to the pump station due to Denton Creek; however, we estimate that it is approximately 45 days to date. Preload Construction Company is being delayed to the extent that water will not be available for fillins or testing of the reservoir until the off-site waterline is completed. We estimate the delay to the tank may exceed two (2) months. We will advise you of any developments regarding these projects and their schedules as the information becomes available. We anticipate formal requests for time extensions from both Contractors in the near future. Sincerely, Sanford W. C~, P.E. cc: Steve Goram H. Wayne Ginn, P.E.
