Re: FEMA Case No. 13-06-1947P
LOMR for Villas of Lake Vista Subdivision
Dear Mr. Kaiser:
I am writing on behalf of the City of Coppell to express my appreciation of your effort to
correct the apparent error in levee location shown on FIRM map number 48121C0705G.
As you know, as a result of this error newly platted lots and existing homes now occupied
in the City of Coppell are shown to be within a Special Flood Hazard Area subject to
inundation by the 1% annual chance flood, which should not be there. This situation is
causing Coppell residents to be required to carry flood insurance, and is delaying the sale
of new homes.
We understand that the normal LOMR process requires a 90-day comment period. We
hereby request a waiver of that period in order to expedite approval of this change. I
believe this is warranted due to the fact that this is the correction of an error in the map
production process rather than a new change to the limits of the floodplain. It appears to
me that there will be no additional properties placed into the SFHA, and no adverse impact
to any properties as a result this correction, due to the proximity of this levee to the county
line, and therefore the limit of this map.
If you have any questions, please contact me at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Cla hillips
