Dear Mr. Doyle:
We received plans for the above referenced project late Friday,
August 4, 1989, with a request to return comments by Monday or
Tuesday of this week. In our cursory review of the plans, we
have the following comments.
The 6" sanitary sewer line, within the right-of-way should
be 8" diameter. In looking at the profile we can see
potential conflicts with going under the 8" waterline and
over the 42" RCP. To help alleviate potential problems, a
suggestion would be to not allow any joints in the sanitary
sewer main to be within 10' of the waterline crossing, plus
extend the concrete encasement 10' beyond the RCP as well as
the 8" water main. From the grades shown, it appears that
there is only a little over 1" clearance between top of 42"
RCP and bottom of sanitary sewer line.
Engineer should provide concrete replacement detail for
Heartz Road.
Suggest providing double clean-out at property line on
sanitary sewer line.
Two standard 10' curb inlets at rear of property, each
designed to carry 16.56 c.f.s., may not be adequate. Local
flooding of those areas may occur.

Sanitary sewer profile calls for ductile iron pipe, Class
51, while note #10 proposes use of PVC, DR 35.
The removal and replacement of concrete pavement for storm
sewer tie-ins, water main tap, and sanitary sewer main
should be coordinated with City Inspector. Suggest that
"trench widths" of concrete replacement should not be
allowed, but that concrete sections, located at existing
joints, should be removed and replaced.

Paving notes indicate 5" thickness to be used. City
requires 6" minimum thickness, unless a variance has been
granted.
