First of all, I would like to thank you for your comments regarding this matter. In answer to your suggestion of contacting the park consultant to amend his contract, Rick Wieland had already contacted Mesa Design Group to provide a proposal to design and provide a cost estimate for the referenced project. It has been confirmed that Mesa Design would be able to provide these services within a thirty day period of time, once approval is received. Should Engineering be in a position to pursue the design of this project in-house, we would direct the park consultant to provide any surveying that may have been already performed, in order that benchmark information can be established. The Parks and Recreation Division will also provide any assistance necessary so that this project can be accomplished. We feel that if you can do this project in-house, the City will save substantial funds that would otherwise be paid to a consultant. In regard to the design of landscaping and irrigation that would take place within the parking islands, Parks and Recreation Division personnel will be providing design for these components. Based on the above described information, I would ask that consideration be given to whether or not Engineering could provide a design for the completion of the parking lot at the east side of the community park. Should you have any additional questions regarding this request, please let me know. Because of the expediency of this matter, I would ask for a reply, if possible by August 24, 1994, in order that plans for this project can be set into motion. SGG/rsw ABCPEAST. 1RW
