RE: Revisions to FIS /FIRM - City of Coppell
Dear Mr. Locke:
FILE CIPY
P.O. Box 478
Coppell, Texas 75019
214- 462 -0022
The City of Coppell is in process of receiving updated street and topographical maps prepared by Teague,
Nall & Perkins Consultant Engineers. It was our intent to provide FEMA with the City-Wide street and
topo maps by September of 1992, however, the consultants final submittal to the City has been delayed.
Attached, is a final draft street: and topo map on a scale of V = 600', showing 10' contours of the entire
City. A set of complete topo maps on a scale of V = 200' will be provided when we have received them
from our consultant.
We have been advised by Dewberry & Davis Consultant Engineering that the updated City-Wide mapping
will only be used on floodplain map revision's along Denton Creek. Please note that the base map used
by FEMA, for the City's effective 1991 FIRM is old and inaccurate in certain areas. As you may know,
Coppell has experienced a tremendous amount of growth and development and the effective 1991 FIRM
does not reflect all changes in the City. It has been a difficult task for the Engineering staff to effectively
utilize the flood insurance rate; map due to lack of proper information on the map, i.e. street locations,
contour lines, street names, city limit lines, etc.
I, therefore, respectfully request that our digitized City-Wide street and topo maps be utilized by FEMA's
consultant, Dewberry & Davis., for the entire City. This will result in an accurate and a quality FIRM for
the City's administration. We appreciate your favorable consideration given to this request. We will
continue to work closely with your staff and will provide any additional information or documentation
necessary. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call Shohre Daneshmand, P.E. or
myself at (214) 393 -1016.
Sincerely,
Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E.
