Re: Review of FENIA restudy of the City of Coppell
Job No. 9183.08
Our review of the preliminary Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance
Study (FIS) for the City of Coppell, Texas, dated September 22, 1988, has been completed. Our
initial review of this preliminary FIS study revealed that it did not include all of the projects and
information available that describe existing conditions. A great deal of time was spent reviewing the
potential projects and refinements that should be included in this study. To this end, meeting was
held with the City in order to determine what projects should be included in this study. Attachment
I is a letter that specifically describes the projects that were included.
The report contains the existing condition flood study for the entire city as we know it. The
attachments included are the details of this study, and are arranged as follows:
Attachment 2:
Computer model of the Denton Creek 100- and 500 -year frequency floods,
including a plot of the water surface profile.
Attachment 3:

One particular item in this study that should be noted is that we have included the modifications to
the bridge at Moore Road over Grapevine Creek as existing conditions. This was according to
instructions from the City (Attachment 1). We recommend that the package your office prepared
for the City at the request of FEMA be submitted along with this report.
If you need assistance in the interpretation of any of this information please let me know.
Very truly yours,
KI LEY -HORN AND ASSOCIATES, INC.
