FIRM-910307Federal Emergency Management Washington, D.C. 20472 The Honorable Mark Wolfe Mayor of the City of Coppell P.O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 Dear Mayor Wolfe: W T 1991 r Agen E cnay MAR I 11991 Case Nos.: 6 -89 -236 and 6 -90 -152 Community: City of Coppell, Dallas and Denton Counties, Texas Community No.: 480170 This is in further reference to the ongoing revision request to the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the City of Coppell currently being processed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In our November 30, 1990 letter to you concerning this request, we listed several review concerns that needed to be resolved and additional items that need to be submitted before this revision can be processed. This letter further stated that if the requested information were not received within 30 days, the September 22, 1988 preliminary FIRM would be finalized. The requested items were received in early January 1991. While the data we received answered some of the concerns, we found that the submitted work maps for this revision were missing delineations of portions of the 100 -year floodplain, 500 -year floodplain, and /or FEMA- designated floodway representing existing conditions at numerous locations, rendering them insufficient to revise the preliminary FIRM. Therefore, because of the lack of supporting data for this revision and the fact that the September 22, 1988 preliminary FIRM reflects increased flood hazards over the effective February 15, 1984 FIRM, we will shortly be issuing a letter of final determination and publishing the September 22, 1988 pre- liminary FIRM in its final effective form. When work maps are submitted with complete revised floodplain and floodway delineations, we will initiate a separate revision to the FIS and FIRM for Coppell to reflect this information. Please submit these revised floodplain work maps directly to our Technical Evaluation Contractor, Dewberry & Davis, 8401 Arlington Boulevard, Fairfax, Virginia 22031, to the attention of Mr. Joseph Chapman, Management Engineering and Technical Services Division. These maps should contain complete 100- and 500 -year floodplain and floodway delineations for all streams based on the submitted existing conditions models prepared by Kimley -Horn Associates. Our processing of the revision will be considered inactive pending receipt of the revised floodplain work maps. 2 Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact the Chief, Natural and Technological Hazards Division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Denton, Texas, at (817) 898 -9127 or Matthew B.
