Re: N. Service Center Administ~'ative Office Building
Dem' Ms. Moino:
Thank ytm for ~e opportunity to make this proposal for the above project, I am presenting it to you with three
fee levels which represent different scopes of engineering service.
Afull set ofplans and specifications and construction phase services for a project such as this could be produced
for $8,500.00. The state requires engineering se~ices durklg the construction phase but it would not necessm-ily
n~d to be the design engineer. We could take out the construction phase engineering work and reduce the cost
to $7,300.00. Construction phase services usually include site visits ~,~d field reports, shop drawing review,
evaluation of contractor's pay requests, etc. Ali consln~ction phase engineering services for a linfited services
agreement would be considered extra and not included in the fee. Those services would then be provided only
as necessary at additional cost. We could further reduce the de.sign cost by eliminating drawing details and
detailed specifications. I estimate that limited s~-vices will require a fee of $5,600.00.
The engineering necessary for limited services will be as follows:
- Coolmg/heatin~ load calculations and equipment selection;
- Electrical load calculations with riser dialilram, 10ad summary, panel and feexier sizes;
- Plumbing fixture load calculations and pipe sizing with riser diagram;
- Water heating calculations and h~tex selection;
- Miscellaneous equipment selections (diffusers, lights, plumbing fixtures);
- Light level calculations;
- Fire protection and alarm code search.

In the case of limited se~ices, HVAC drawinss, for ~xample, would indicate the seneral location of equipment
and diffusers without detailed duct routins, Plumbing plans would be more schematic than detailed and a riser
diagrma would provide most of the pipe sizin8 requirements. Electrical drawings would indicate device locations
without dote/led W~rin$. Also, in order to hold the fee down, ! would include time for one meeting only.
Before starting the design, ! would want to send you my standard letter of agreement, unless you have a standard
contract for professional serVaces.
