CF-Deforest SC-CS 980302 MEMORANDUM
FROM TFIE
DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING
To: Mayor and City Council / Executive Session
From: Ken Griffin, P.E., Dir. of Engineering and Public Works ~7
RE: Discussion of sale of certain real property owned by the City of Coppell
Date: March 2, 1998
Recently, the Engineering Department has been contacted by an individual who has a contract to
purchase the property north of the existing Service Center on DeForest Road. This person has
inquired as to whether or not the City would be interested in selling part of our land that is
situated north of the em'rent Service Center and south of the property that this individual has a
contract to purchase.
I contacted our Legal Department as to the process and was informed that the process to sell
property is through a sealed bid process. This has been conveyed to the interested party. Also, I
have informed him that the City does have plans for future expansion at our Service Center for
storage of equipment and a Sign/Signal Shop. The current Sign/Signal Shop is located at the
West Service Center in a dilapidated house on the site. Currently, a large portion of the City's
equipment is stored outside in the weather causing more rapid deterioration of the exterior
portions of the equipment.
At the Council meeting staff will Present a tentative site plan of the proposed future
improvements in the area and will discuss with Council their desires concerning the sell of any
portion of the existing Service Center property.
