Date - ' BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT APPLICATION PACKET - Page 2 (Revised 11-94) To: Board of Adjustment From: Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E., Assistant City Manager/City Engineer RE: Consideration of a request for a variance to allow the construction of a temporary asphalt parking lot at 732 DeForest Road, the City of Coppell's North Service Center Date: November 28, 1995 The City of Coppell is currently experiencing a temporary parking problem associated with the North Service Center. The problem stems from four operations: 1) Leisure Services; 2) Streets; 3) Utilities and 4) Fleet Maintenance operating out of one facility with limited parking. In addition to the employees vehicles, there is also room needed for equipment for various functions and vehicles impounded by the Police Department. As more and more vehicles and equipment have been brought on line by the various departments over the past few years, there has become a premium on the available parking spaces at the facility. There currently is a level area just inside the brick fence that is not visible from DeForest Road which could be utilized on an interim basis as a temporary asphalt parking lot for remote employee parking. We have been in contact with Dallas County and they would be willing to provide us with materials at their cost to install the asphalt parking lot. It is anticipated that the parking lot would provide approximately 18 parking spaces for a period not to exceed 24 months. file/kgriffin/servctr, asp SECTION 31 OFF - STREET PARKING REQUIREMENTS Purpose: To secure safety from fire, panic, and other dangers; to lessen con- gestion in the streets; to facilitate the adequate provisions of u'ansportation; to conserve the value of buildings; and to encourage the most appropriate use of land, minimum off-street parking and loading shall be provided az set forth in the following schedules and provisions.
