Phase 1 –New 12” Water Line along the West side of Coppell Road. Phase 2 –New Storm Drain and Paving on East side of the road. Phase 1 and 2 can be done concurrently if the contractor uses multiple crews and OO staggers their work locations. Traffic counts indicate a total volume of approximately 5500 vehicles per day divided nearly equally between northbound and southbound. The final decision was based on Emergency Response. This area is served by Fire and EMS from Fire Station No. 1 on Southwestern Blvd. When precious seconds count, the Fire Coppell Department will have unimpeded access Fire from the station to all the homes within the Station No. 1 project area. OO Engineering Department C i t y o f C o p p e l l Where are we now? Utility companies are in the process of identifying and relocating conflicts. We have entered into a contract for $2,857,846.30 with Tiseo Paving. We have allocated $200,000 for early completion incentives. st Tiseo can begin mobilizing and working on Phase I as early as May 1. Closure of the southbound side of the road will begin no earlier than June 9, 2008. The contractor has 365 calendar days to complete the project. The contractor will be awarded a bonus of $1,000 per day for completion prior to June 8, 2009. The contractor will be awarded a $200,000 bonus if the project Is completed by December 31, 2008. If the contractor fails to complete the project by by June 8, 2009 They will be assessed damages in the amount of $1,000 per day. OO Engineering Department C i t y o f C o p p e l l Potential Traffic Concerns Increase in traffic on alternate streets. Traffic in alley. School congestion during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Drivers finding alternate locations to drop off or pick up students. Disregarding traffic control devices. We are currently evaluating traffic patterns in this area. Once construction begins we will monitor these and any other issues that may arise. We will take action if issues arise that pose a safety hazard, or create an undue hardship on adjacent property owners.
