Results
On luly 15, 1994, a representative of GEE Consultants, Inc. was present at the above referenced fabrication plant to
pertbrm visual inspection of fabricated structural steel:
1. Four tube trusses, piece mark #27TI have been completed with the exception of painting. One weld was tbund
to have been omitted. The area was marked up for rewelding.
2. One truss #27TI which was being welded out was found to have no root opening at the bottom chord splice
joint prep which had been fitted. We requested that a root opening be formed by grinding.
3. 5-28T1 and 4-28T2 galvanized truss assemblies have been shipped to job site prior to our inspection. An
inspection will be performed of these members at the project site.
4. Tubular truss assembly field splice preps had beveled ends but the tube ends were not provided with fitted
backing bars, which is a requirement for a ,Cull penetration splice weld. The fabricator stated that corrections
would be made.
5. Tube beams with bent plates, piece mark #23B1, 23B2, 23B3 and 23B4 are in various stages of fabrication.
6. Random dimensional checks were made and were satisfactory.
7. Shop welds were visually examined tbr size and appearance.
