We discussed having a modified end that would close the angled gap and connect to (or abut) the existing bridge rail (see attached sketch). The railing along the wall would hold its designed alignment (9” behind top of wall) up to the bridge rail. Steve is going to coordinate with the manufacturer on the details…as I understand it. John, please chime in if you had something different in mind. I think a similar gap is needed in order to prevent a pinch hazard and/or damage to the rigid portion of rail. The same chain and gap configuration should work well with the railing configuration we discussed onsite, in which separate rigid segments would be installed on both sides of any hinged joint.
