The previous railing on the fishing pier had about a 1’ gap between each rail segment (see attached), with 4 links of
chain crossing the gap. I think a similar gap is needed in order to prevent a pinch hazard and/or damage to the rigid
portion of rail. The same chain and gap configuration should work well with the railing configuration we discussed
onsite, in which separate rigid segments would be installed on both sides of any hinged joint. Let me know if you need
