Results
On July 22, 1994, a representative of GEE Consultants, Inc. was present at the above referenced fabrication
plant to perform visual inspection of fabricated structural steel.
1. Five ~8TI and tbur g28T2 curved tresses which have been returned to the fabricator were inspected. The
28Tl's have gutter openings through the side of tube. These openings according to the project drawings
are in the fight location as detailed. We request an engineering review of this detail to resolve any
questions.
2. The last of the two tress structures #35T1 and 36T1 are being worked. Backing bars are being fitted at the
ends for the field splice connections.
3. We noted that a number of rolled beams are being thermally heated in spots to remove excessive roll, we
recommended the use of temp sticks to better control the amount of heat input.
4. A truck is currently being loaded for shipment. The load consists of rolled beams, tube beams with bent
plate and other pieces.
5. According to the fabricator, approximately 33 % of the structural steel has been fabricated.
6. Ship welds were visually examined tbr size and appearance.
In general welding and workmanship is progressing in a satisfactory manor. C)m'} inspect,j/on was performed in
