Bethel Road Project:
1. If the design as presented by HDR had accurately taken the lift station out of service, then
Pate would have to go in and remove and relay from Sta. 42+52.27 up to Sta. 52+22.
Once that was completed, then the project could be finalized and would work as designed.
Again, the assumption is that the design presented by HDR would have actually taken the
lift station out of service.
2. There is approximately an 8 foot bust from HDR submitted to us on the lift station
elevation and the actual resurveyed elevation. Therefore, if Pate Brothers would have built
the plans exactly as submitted initially by HDR including the drop manhole at Loch Lane,
then HDR would be removing all the way from Sta. 75+02.71 back to Sta. 35+40.41.
This is the distance that would be required to make it flow from the lift station as
resurveyed.
3. Because portions of the line were installed lower than designed, HDR can take advantage
of that and only have to install a 15" line from Sta. 75+02.71 down to Sta 47.27.
4. There is still a flat section between Sta. 42+52.27 and Sta. 47+27. If Pate were to go
in an raise that section so that it would have positive fall knowing that it takes a 15" line
between Sta. 52+22 to Sta 47.27 then we would have to negotiate a price for the 15" pipe
with Pate Brothers over and above the initial cost of the 10" pipe.
5. If Pate were to actually go in and try to raise the grade it is possible that they could install
a 15" the whole way from Sta. 42+52.27 up to Sta 49+27 and install an additional
manhole at that point. I am unsure whether that would be a less expensive option than go
all the way to Sta. 52+22 but it is a shorter distance.
6. I have trouble seeking that Pate should be responsible for replacing 970 feet of pipe to get
a positive fall in the line so that HDR can come back and remove and replace 495 feet of
that to enlarge it from a 10" to 15". Something in this whole process is just alluding me
on making sense.
7. Need to determine what bid item 37 refers to.
8. Need to deduct 475 feet from Bid item 38 which is the Trench Safety.
9. Need to determine why we have already paid for all the manholes when it appears as
though at least one or possibly two of the manholes have not been constructed.
10. Have Pate actually come back in and remove and relay from Sta 42+52.27 up to Sta
47+27 at their own cost and then between Sta 52+22 and Sta 47+27 have Pate install a
15" line and determine the actual cost of the 15" line deduct the cost of what we were
paying for the 10" line and have HDR pick up the difference and then have HDR bring in
their own contractor from Sta 52+22 up to the end of the project Sta 75+02.71.
