This meeting served as the kickoff meeting for designing erosion impr.
Additional discussion items arose regarding Alex Canal, the boar
Parkway Blvd. The following is a summary of the meeting discussion items and associated
Central Activity Lake
-Kyle presented a brief summary of the contracted scope of work,
and most notable improvement features. This includes conceptual, preliminary, and final design for
the following: combination of lake edge treatments, outfall eros
pedestrian bridge repairs and stabilization, and fishing pier connection im
-TNP will include a conceptual evaluation of replacing the pedestrian bridge as opposed to salvag
the existing bridge.
-The Andrew Brown Park Master Plan study is ongoing, concurrent w
coordinate with Dunaway regarding the west side of the lake. Conceptual ideas include having an
event center stage (possibly concrete) that projects over the western lake shore.
-Concept design should evaluate removing and/or relocating the fi
-TNP to consider improvements to stabilize the turf around the high traffic picnic area at the
southwest corner of the lake.
-TNP will evaluate safety conditions associated with the lake out
ducks that may be overtaken by the vortex.

-A Section 404 Nationwide Permit (NWP) is anticipated for this project. However, the contract
includes scope for an Individual Permit if needed. A Notice of Intent (NOI) to the USACE will be
required, including evaluation of environmental mitigation. Ult will

The Notice to Proceed letter states the project will be complete in 90 days

-TNP to present boardwalk demolition plans to the City by April 3 in order to have it on the May 7
Park Board meeting agenda. This should include concept level visual aids of the proposed
improvements for presentation to stakeholders.
-Include removal of existing helical piers in high erosion areas to avoid safety risk of protruding
objects being exposed by erosion. TNP will evaluate removing al
first choice approach.
-City anticipates performing the demolition work without needing
-TNP will consider accommodating fishing, and other non-pass through traffic along the boardwalk, as
part of the design.
-TNP to design improvements for the eroded storm drain outfall as part of this project. The
additional scope will be added to the Andrew Brown (East) Erosio Phase 2 contract
proposal.
-TNP will evaluate the need for upsizing the lake level control p
waters recede.
Alex Canal
-Keith suggested bidding the Alex Canal improvements with the Cen
order to realize economy of scale savings.
-Concept plans and cost opinions are higher than available funds.
North Canal (Parkway Blvd. to spillway)
-TNP to prepare a stand-alone contract proposal to design bank improvements for both sides of the
channel/canal (approximately 450 lf) between Parkway Blvd. and the existing spillway to the north.
Get proposal to Keith ASAP.
-Assume survey will be done concurrent with central activity lake
event survey is done separately.

-Assume a hard edge on both sides of the canal that will match the appearance of surr
improvements.
-Central lake funding is tied to trail improvements. Minor trail
Parkway Blvd., which may impact funding options for this portion of canal.
-The canal improvements may impact the spillway improvements.
East Lake
-TNP to add scope to the proposal for adding a fishing pier to th
