MA1009-MP121215t., t ieaque nail & perkinS — Anpinc.com engineers surveyors landscape architects Project Status Report To: John Elias and Keith Marvin From: Kyle Dykes cc: Tim May Date: December 11, 2012 RE: Andy Brown Erosion PH & Alex Drive Canal - Preliminary Design (60 %) (CPL11185 & CPL11248) The last status update was on October 15Th. The following is a list of completed items from the current phase of work, as well as related comments and questions. 1. Survey was completed for Alex Drive Canal north of Parkway Blvd. The next 90% plan submittal will include this survey data. 2. The 60% plans for the full project limits of Andy Brown Park (Central Lake) and Alex Drive Canal were submitted to the City on November 19Th. 3. The plans are not anticipated to change much between 60% and 90 %. The most notable items will include: minor corrections where needed, additional details, and specifications. 4. Upon the 60% submittal the City indicated that a review meeting is probably not necessary. In lieu of a meeting, TNP respectfully requests that any review comments the City may have be provided in writing to TNP, to help ensure the next submittal properly addresses each item. Notable design items for your consideration: a. What is the City's preference for rehabilitating the fishing pier? Since it will probably be relocated in the future it is anticipated that any improvements will be limited. b. Safety railing has been added to the design above any wall that is 30" or more above the water surface. c. The proposed water depth adjacent to the wall is 24" deep, with the exception of the canal south of Parkway Blvd. A safety rail is proposed for this area. d. Around the lake there will be 12" of exposed wall above the normal pool. Exposed wall along the canal varies between 12" and 48 ", with the taller walls being around the spillway and south of Parkway Blvd. e. The wall design for the lake and north canal calls for partially burying a portion of wall to allow for future dredging in the event aquatic vegetation becomes problematic. To eliminate this design feature would reduce construction cost, but remove the option to deepen the water's edge in the future. The function of the existing outfall structure (north side of lake) will be preserved. The south opening will be notched to lower the normal pool, the wall and backfill will hide the exposed pipe, and safety rail will be provided to deter pedestrian access to the outlet structure (and vortex that occurs during floods). g. Improvements at the pedestrian bridge are limited to stabilizing the existing abutments. The bridge is planned to remain in place and not be improved ... as the plans are now. h. The canal south of Parkway is planned to be partially drawn down during construction to prevent damage to the HOA wall. The revised project schedule is anticipated to be as follows: Preliminary Design (60 %) -- - - - - -- 404 PCN Submittal----------- - - - - -- City Review (60 %) ---------------- 90% Design ------------------ - - - - -- City Review (90 %) --------------- - Final Design (100 %) -------- - - - - -- Action Items: - - - -- 70/46//12 1 7/ 1917 2 (complete) - - - - -- i @//26//12 1 1 1617 2 (complete) - - - - -- i ', , °//,z 12/ 1417 2 (in progress) - - - - -- i ' /2 ASAP (in progress) - - - -- i 2//14// 2 - - - - -- 7/9/72 • City to provide written review comments to TNP, preferably by 12/14/12. • TNP to proceed with 90% plans. • Page 2
