Would like to use something a little harder like cedar, or should we work up a method for using Ipe? I think we can make it work either way, just need to give Steve clear direction. Geoweb Typical Section Similar to Steve’s recommendation below…After the 3’ trail buffer, slope down at 4:1 to the proposed edge of water, then flatten the slope to 7:1. The existing lake bottom in the area we met this morning is approximately 7:1. This scenario still utilizes 16’ of Geoweb, with 6’ above the normal pool and 10’ below. The total width of grading will vary by approximately 2’ to 4’ as the trail elevation fluctuates. See the attached image for graphics. Note: The outfall openings still needs to be verified (measure down) based on the top of the lake outfall being 649.73. Steve says the opening is at 646.35 but we have it shown at 647.00. Bridge Decking I called Sweeney Hardwoods today and they carry Ipe wood but do not stock it. It comes in 1”x6” deck boards, 2x nominal sizes, and a few other standard lumber sizes. In order to match the existing bridge abutments we need something 2-1/2” thick. A simple solution would be to go with a high grade, clear red wood that is rough sawn to size, and reinstall the angle iron end caps that were removed. The deck boards should be installed so that any cupping would be downward, to avoid holding water. Let me know if/when you would like to discuss. We found that the existing ground is at the 445.50 one foot below water. If we are to move out an additional 5 feet, the geoweb will be anywhere from 2-2.5 below the 446.50 water level. It is my suggestion after meeting with the geoweb sales rep that we maintain the 7 to 1 for the first 8 feet, and the second 8 feet to 4-1 or whatever the existing conditions dictate. Please respond at your earliest convenience. Thank you, Thanks, James (Steve). Kenney President JDK Associates, Inc. 940-686-6236 940-686-6318 2
