HVJ technician, Juan Maldonado, arrived on site at 8.'00am at the request of Fred Wolfes from Pavecon Construction to visually
inspect the subgrade and to obtain a sample of CTB for compressive strength testing. Upon arrival, HVJ technician met with
Ishmiael from Pavecon Construction and he directed him to inspect five trendies in the west bound lane of Sandy Lake Road at
the following stations : 24+00, 27 +50, 30+00, 35+00, 37+50. All trenches appeared to consist of stiff brown and gray clay with
some areas of light brown sand. The subgrad'e on all the trenches appeared to be uncompated; however, they were excavated
to a depth that removed most unstable subgrade. (approximately four feet). All trenches except the one at Station 35 +00
contained large chunks of day on top of the finished subgrade. Derek Thomas with the City of Coppell was called and notified
of the inspection; a message was left on his voicemail. HVJ technician remained on site until the CTB arrived at 12:30pm.
Ishmael with Pavecon notified our technician that the CTB plant did not begin to operate until 11:30am because of low
temperatures in the early morning. One sample of CTB was obtained from a small stockpile near station 40 +00, HVJ technician
left the job site at I.00pm.
