HVJ technician, Juan Maldonado, arrived on site at 10:00am at the request of Fred Wolfes from Pavecon Construction to visually
inspect the subgrade and to obtain a sample of CTB for compressive strength testing. Upon arrival, technician met with Ishmael'
from Pavecon Construction and obtained information on which trenches were ready for inspeciton: Stations 24 +00, 27 +50,
30 +00. All trenches consisted of light brown and gray sandy clay. The subgrade was dry, stiff and mostly compacted with very
few chunks of clay on the surface. All trenches were excavated to a depth of approximately four feet to remove most of the
unstable subgrade. Dereck Thomas with The City of Coppell was called to be notified of the inspection results. HVJ technican
remained on site until the CTB arrived at 12:30pm. Ishmael with Pavecon notified technician that the CTB plant was late to
begin operations because of low temperatures in the early morning. One sample of CTB was obtained from a small stockpile
near Station 31 +00. Technician left the job site at I:00pm.
