Roof trusses and sheathing @ station house. D. DEFICLENC[ES AND CORRECTIONS: X:\411000\FR04-O5 .WP 1. Tails at "R5" type trusses adjacent to Captain's Quarters-have been cut and/or broken off during installation. Additional 2 x 4's have been scabbed on. Note that at least one truss is damaged back into the gusset. ACTION: Boyd Construction to contact truss manufacturer and request a documented position on the condition of the damaged trusses. 2. The fascia construction is of poor quality,_ The tails of the trusses do not extend to the backside of the 2 x fascia in most instances and therefore, the fascia is being held in place by the horizontal kickers and nails penetrating thru the sheathing and into the top of the fascia. In some areas there are unacceptable gaps between the fascia and roof sheathing. In general, a decision to use a few more nails rather than craftsmanship seems to be the order of the day. ACTION: Boyd Construction to insure that all fascia boards and kickers are square and plumb. Brackets are to be added where required to insure sound framing connections between fascia board, kickers and rafter tails. 3. Boyd Construction has decided to erect the trusses along with the supporting ledger prior to the construction of the Apparatus Bay CMU wall. The ledger which will eventually be bolted to an adjacent CMU wall is currently being supported by (2) 2 x 8's. Mr. Lee Stone and PSA informed Boyd that this temporary shoring was not stable and if accidentally knocked out could cause a portion of the structure to collapse. 4. The concrete drive @ Station No. 3 has been poured over several brick ledges. Specifically over the exterior corner adjacent to Dayroom 107 and at the brick ledges adjacent to all the overhead Apparatus Bay doors. ACTION: Boyd to remove concrete drive from all brick ledges. 5. The steel angle, designed as a 1/2" waterstop at the overhead Apparatus Bay doors, was incorrectly placed to the outside of the beam. A new waterstop design will have to be installed. ACTION: Boyd to submit waterstop proposal for architectural review prior to installation. 6. Boyd informed PSA that the Parks Department requested additional sleeving under the concrete drives at Station No. 2 for future communications cabling. ACTION: Chief Godwin to contact the Parks Department to fred out if the sleeving is actually required. 7. PSA informed Boyd that the job signs have the wrong station numbers. ACTION: Boyd Construction to modify the job signs. 8. Mr. Lee Stone stated that Boyd requested an inspection of the underfloor plumbing lines last week. At that time the system was red tagged because it did not hold the required pressure. As of today, the system is still red tagged because is full of frozen water. 9. Boyd stated that they are scheduled to pour concrete tomorrow, December 31, 1996. Mr. Larry Davis asked if an ATECH Technician had been scheduled and also requested that the project surveyor verify the formwork elevations prior to pouring concrete. Boyd stated that a technician was scheduled and that their surveyor would verify the formwork elevations. 10. PSA noted trusses improperly stored on site. ACTION: Boyd to ensure that trusses are stored on blocks, level and in contact with the ground. E. ITEMS DISCUSSED: 1. PSA stated that RFP Nos. 5 and 6 are still outstanding and that no proposal has been received from Boyd. 2. PSA indicated that the Contractor generated RFP No. ? for rain days request has not been received. ACTION: Boyd to send another copy of the Request. 3. PSA indicated that the only outstanding Shop Drawings are for the Kitchen Exhaust Hood. 4. PSA informed Boyd that Mid-South Contractors, the Contractors of the Justice Center adjacent to Station No. 3, constructed a sidewalk linking the Justice Center with the Town Center. The sidewalk was constructed over some existing Town Center irrigation lines. Mid-South wants the City to test that zone so they can be assured that nothing was damaged during the sidewalk installation. The line serving this zone was damaged by Boyd during the rough grading of the concrete that loops around the southeast corner of the site. ACTION: Boyd to insure that sprinkler line has been fixed, contact the Parks Department and help the Owner power up the damaged zone. F. OTHER: N/A ~c: Attendees Ms. Sheri Moino/C.O.C.
