PSA Project No. 4110.00
Dear Chief Godwin:
We just wanted to keep you updated on our findings as Phillips Swager Associates
(PSA) monitors the concrete at Fire Station No. 3.
Last week, PSA issued a letter to Boyd Construction stating that we would monitor
the floor and pavement concrete for shrinkage cracks, because we learned from
Mr. Thompson at ATEC Associates, Inc. that the concrete which was placed did
not meet the slump requirements Set forth in the project specifiCations.
PSA visited the. site yesterday and reviewed the conditions of both the slab and
drives. We found no signs of cracking in the floor slab. Critical areas such as
building corners and edges of the apparatus bay trench drains were looked at
carefully. We also reviewed the concrete drives, and we specifically looked for
the crack Mr. Davis informed us about. We could not f'md that crack because it
is probably covered up by stored construction materials. We will continue to look
for this specific crack. The portions of the concrete drive we could review showed
no signs of cracking.
PSA will continue to monitor the concrete but, in our opinion, we do not foresee
any major problems occurring in the future.
Mr. Jimmy Godwin
