CF-Senior Center-CS 961204 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM DATE: Wednesday 4 December, 1996 TO: Ken Griffin, Director of Public Works/City Engineer FROM: Sheri Moino, Facilities Manage~ RE: Senior Citizens Center Status Phillip Swager Associates has been corresponding with Bailey Construction regarding the replacement of the floor tiles in the multi-purpose room. As you know, the tiles were not sealed down in some areas and therefore not acceptable. Bailey Construction does not feel that they should be fully responsible for the replacement since a roof leak occurred following the tile installation which they maintain damaged the floor. The other punch items have been complete with the exception of door hardware scheduled to be installed next week. A certificate of substantial completion and certificate of occupancy cannot be released until the City and Architect agree the building has reached substantial completion. The Senior Citizens are very upset with the construction delay and are anxious to move in. Furniture items were scheduled to be delivered this week and were deferred to other storage locations. The Seniors were planning to have a Christmas dinner next week which will be impossible until a resolution is reached regarding the replacement of the tile multi- purpose room. Phillips Swager Associates will be notifying us with their recommendation following their review of Bailey Construction's cost breakdown for replacing the tile floor.
