Gentlemen:
Submitted herewith are the results of the lime series analysis performed on a
soil sample obtained from the above referenced project. The samples were
obtained at the request of Mr. Kerry Kochise of L. H. Lacy on October 14, 1987.
The results of the test are as follows:
SAMPLE #1
Sample Descriptions:
Natural Plasticity Index:
gray cl ay

PERCENT (%) LIME BY
SAMPLE DRY UNIT WEIGHT
pH
0 9.0
2 11.2
4 12.1
6 12.35
8 12.4
10 12.4
Based on the above information and Figure I attached, the lime modification
optimum appears to be about 6.5% by dry unit weight of soil. 1% should be added
to account for the difference in field and la6oratory m~xing conditions for a
total of 7.5% under field mixing conditions. Based on an estimated soil weight
95 lb per cubic foot and a required depth of 6 inches, 32 lb of lime should be
mixed for each square yard of subgrade.
