Re:
149 Cottonwood Drive
Project No. 3001-13
Dear Mr. Patel:
Attached, please find a copy of your letter to me dated May 31, 1994, and two (2)
revised sets of Drainage Improvement Plans dated June 10, 1994. I would like to
address the City's comments in the same order as in the attached letter.
Item 1.
Item 2.
Item 3.
Item 4.
Item 5.
Item 6.
Item 7.
We have provided a title sheet.
We have increased the wall and base thickness of the modified y-inlet
to 8-inches.
As I discussed with Mr. Griffin on June 3rd and with yourself and
Mr. Martin on June 7th, the vertical supports would prohibit the
structure from acting like a junction box and taking the flow which
currently discharges at this location and putting it into the two (2)
42-inch RCP's which are located along the west property line. I believe
all parties have agreed that the vertical supports will not be provided
and instead additional steel and supports will be provided in the inlet
top as shown on Sheet 1 of 2.
We have revised the 471 contour so as not to encroach within the flood-
way easement line.
AS we discussed on June 7th, the request to grade along the northeast
corner of the property would result in a diversion of flow from along
the existing flow path and subsequent pond downstream and take the flow
north to the existing channel. This would contradict the original design
criteria that the original flow characteristics of the site not be altered.
Therefore, we have not addressed this comment on the plans.
We have referenced City of Coppell Standard Construction Detail Sheet
SD10 Section D-D in Construction Note No. 3.
The distance between the two (2) 42" RCP's has been increased from 12
to 18 inches.

Item 8.
Item 9.
The top of the spillway elevation has been indicated on the profile on
Sheet 2 of 2.
I believe this item is addressed under Item 3 above.
We also have indicated on Sheet 1 of 2 that two (2) reflectorized vertical panels be
installed at either end of the modified y-inlet so as to warn vehicular traffic of its
presence.
I believe we have addressed all of the City's comments and concerns and we look
forward to receiving the City's approval of the construction plans in the near future.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Susan E. Weaver, P.E.
