Larry had to make a field change on Freeport related to depth and diameter of a pier the contractor had
encountered a dense sandstone, had to leave it over night the shaft collected water disintegrated the
shaft where the water came in contact. “I had Richard Gee come to the project early this morning so we
could make an evaluation of what to do, there were two options the lesser option in my opinion would
not give us the load bearing we needed so I took the second option and increased the shaft diameter
from 30 inches to 36 inches which will be more than adequate to provide the load bearing requirements
for the bridge pier shaft”.
