DFW Airport Verizon Building Expansion VOC, Aviation Fuels Monitored and segregated fill material removed during building a Soil placed during airport construction had no environmental pedigree brought in to raise grade. Soils were monitored for VOC and BTEX potential constituents, se need, and resulted in minimal offsite disposal. Dallas Museum of Nature and Science VOC, BTEX Observed soil excavation for major utility relocation associated Dallas. Trenches reached depths of 27 ft below grade for storm water and replacements across a site that fell under residential standards on one side, and commercial on the other half. Photo-ionization detector (PID) used for field screening and categorization. Unique challenges includeD 1) ability to use soil from residential side as backfill on commercial side, 2) caving of excavations during rain events increased volume and of field determinations, 3) multiple levels of oversight. Commercial Development Preston Road, North Dallas DNAPL, VOC, BTEX Managed materials excavation and transport to offsite facility from two pre determined impacted areas in a larger footprint area. Oversaw placement of clean soil in excavations. Subsequent activity included monitoring Moisture Conditioning op of foundation preparation. This Moisture conditioning required removal, hydration, replacement and compaction, of 100% of soil on subject site to 1 grade. Monitored all earthwork activity for constituents of concern. Should site conditions pose challenges, he will make the best selection of crew and equipment to meet the challenge. In solving a TxDOT schedule and budget challenge, Harris recommended drilling throu over an area lake, in order to obtain samples to be used in the acement bridge (see picture above).
