RE: Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan
Dear HOA President,
The City of Coppell is seeking input regarding the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan during a
public workshop scheduled for Wednesday, February 11th from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. in the
Council Chambers located at 255 Parkway Blvd.
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan will complement the community-wide Trails
Implementation Plan set in motion by the Coppell 2030 Vision. The purpose of the bike and
pedestrian master plan is to analyze the City's roadway network for bicycling and walking safety
and connectivity, and with the public's input, plan a network of bike facilities, sidewalks, and
trail connectors.
The City has engaged Alta Planning + Design, a planning consultancy specializing in "active"
transportation and trails-based recreation. They would like to hear from all Coppell citizens
about where they want to bicycle, walk, jog and be able to go without having to drive their
vehicles.
Two public workshops will be held, the first on February 11, is to receive public input and ideas
to help form a vision and goals for the master plan, and to provide the consultant team and
Steering Committee with their priority locations for improvements. A second public meeting will
be planned for late spring/ early summer and will enable Alta to publicly present a draft of the
master plan for refinement and final comments.
An additional key strategy for learning what Coppell's citizens want in a bicycling and walking
network is the online survey that will be accessible through the City's website. Anyone who is
unable to attend the workshops can offer input through this survey beginning February 11th
Alta's Project Manager,Linda DuPriest encourages anyone with questions or ideas to contact her
at 512-785-7751 or via email at lindadupriest@,altaplanning.com. For any additional questions
please contact the City of Coppell Engineering Department at 972-304-3682.
Sincerely,
George Marshall,P.E.
