Intersection of North Coppell & Sandy Lake RdMr. Marvin,
Please don’t view this as a complaint, but rather a heads up… BTW… the
road project is coming along nicely!
We are in a unique position (103 Winding Hollow) to watch the behavior
at the “temporary” four way stop. In summary far too many people are
simply blowing through this stop. We hear the horns regularly as there
are many close calls, in fact, I was almost hit this morning. When the
blinking light was there, it was a bit better. After counting cars this
morning, we would estimate that somewhere around 20% of drivers are
blowing through this stop sign. This even happens when there are cars
on all four sides. In addition, there is already significantly more
pedestrian crossings due to the sidewalks, that everyone is in a hurry
to utilize.
So, we’re not sure what the solutions is.
* Put a sign up on the medians for better visibility…
* Put up a temporary blinking light again…
* Get rid of the four way all together…
* Make conspicuously permanent…
One last note… We are a little concerned about the ability of cars to
cross traffic from either side of Winding Hollow. The Sandy Lake
traffic seems to be traveling faster than when it was just a two lane.
A permanent four way stop may be necessary.
Your thoughts or the plans of the City would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Anthony (Tony) Wells
